The Syndicat International du Décolletage (SID) was created in 1963 to bring together the international organisations that represent the machining industry.
The ADECAT is a founding member and is currently comprised of the following nine countries: Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States and Canada. The chairmanship and secretariat are changed every two years to a different member country.
The S.I.D. Congress is held every two years in order to put all the aforementioned elements into practice. It focuses mainly on visits to different local companies.
